In 2014, the MPA realized in Marettimo Island a safe bathing sea-area for offshore swimming and swim-trekking. About 20 warning buoys were placed along an imaginary line of 1,852 metres, equal to one nautical mile. The protected stretch of water includes an area of the sea, 50 metres wide, in front of the eastern coast of the island, south of the town, which goes from Madonna del Rotolo to the beach of Praia Nacche, in the area C of the MPA. In this area, the ordinance of the Harbor Master's Office of Trapani for the prohibition of navigation, anchoring and mooring applies.
