Zone "B" (general protection regime) comprises the sea area around the sea stack of Favignana and the west side of Levanzo while in Marettimo, it corresponds to the two sea areas between Punta Bassana and Punta Libeccio and between Punta Mugnone and Punta Troia, as well as to the sea mirror around the island of Formica. In this area, bathing, free sailing, rowing, pedal or electric boats, scuba diving, prior to authorization, and only if in possession of 2° level patent, and underwater guided tours taken at resident diving centres are permitted. Recreational and small-scale fishing, sailing and anchoring within 500 meters from the coast are permitted, though only to Favignana's homeowners or residents and prior to authorization; outside 500 metres, free navigation is allowed also to non-residents. In Marettimo's zone "B", sailing and anchoring within 500 metres from the coast is permitted prior to daily authorization, even up to a maximum of 40 inhabitants of non-residents properties, daily authorized.
Zone "C" (partial protection regime) comprises the east side of Levanzo, the east side of Marettimo and the whole island of Favignana, excluding the small area "B" around the sea stack. In this area, bathing, free navigation, anchoring outside the sea-beds of environmental interest, recreational or small-scale fishing, underwater guided tours taken with resident diving centres and, prior to authorization, individual diving are permitted.
In Zone "D", which includes the sea area between the islands of Favignana and Levanzo and the island of Marettimo, trawling and large-scale fishing is permitted. In the Marine Protected Area, underwater fishing and collection of organisms is prohibited, with the exception of sea urchins, whose catch is permitted, prior to authorization, only to residents. As to leasing and rental activities for which authorization is required, reference is made to the navigation and anchorage regulations, while fishing-tourism is governed by the regulation on professional fishing.
