In the Marine Protected Area "Egadi Islands", in order to protect and preserve the integrity of both the submarine environments and the Prairie of Posidonia Oceanica, mooring fields have been installed to allow the yachtsmen to fully enjoy the sea around the most charming coasts of the Egadi.
In addition to the mooring fields, free mooring zones have been identified on inert seabeds, to allow watercraft to anchor.
MOORING FIELDS
These areas are equipped with mooring buoys anchored to the seabed, to allow the stop of the nautical units. These areas are properly marked to ensure safe navigation.
Buoys mooring minimizes the impact on the marine environment, particularly on the Posidonia Oceanica.
Mooring buoys are installed for boats and yachts.
Currently, the mooring fields installed are 9: 4 in Favignana, 3 in Levanzo and 2 in Marettimo.
In order to preserve the seabed without penalizing pleasure yachting and to cope with the impressive increase in the number of vessels, mainly coming from the coast of Trapani, it has been decided to install 8 new additional mooring lines.
